Test & Tag Services
The Occupational Health and Safety Acts (OH&S) throughout Australia demand that the following Portable Electrical devices be tested and tagged on all commercial and industrial sites:
- Computers & accessories
- Office equipment
- Kitchen appliances
- Portable equipment/appliances
- Electrical hand tools
- Extension leads
- Power boards
- Portable safety switches
The OH&S Act further states that any person on site has a 'Duty of Care' under common law to ensure that all equipment brought onto site must be Tested and Tagged and therefore deemed safe. If the equipment/portable electrical device is not safe and it causes an accident, both the employer and the person who provided the equipment/device may be liable.
Why Test & Tag?
Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) legislation imposes a duty of care to provide a safe workplace. Failure to ensure the safety of electrical equipment may result in the death or injury of yourself, your employees or others.
To discharge your duty of care you are required to reduce the risk of electrical shock as far as practicable. One method of achieving this is to ensure your tools, leads and appliances are tested for electrical fault on a regular basis
Test & Tag Services
All services provided by Standby Security Services Pty Ltd Test & Tag are fully compliant with AS/NZS 3760:2003 in-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment standard. We meet the requirement to perform a “leakage” test on all relevant equipment including three phase appliances.
Domestic Testing & Tagging
It is common knowledge that our services have been developed to assist employers in their obligations to comply with the OH&S requirements of their relevant States and Territories and in accordance with Australian Standards.
Earth Fault Loop Impedance
In order to ensure your safety and the accuracy of our test results, Standby Security Services Pty Ltd will always test the power point we use for our portable appliance tester. We can also offer this service to every power point in the workplace.
Electric Blanket Testing
Electric blankets can provide us with warmth and comfort during the colder months but they can also be extremely dangerous. Standby Security Services Pty Ltd have developed a system that provides a fully compliant test to AS/NZS 3760:2008. Be safe for winter and have one of our technicians check yours before use.
Electrical Risk Assessment
Our technicians are fully trained to undertake an electrical hazards survey of your workplace.
Emergency and Exit Lights
It is a legislative requirement for employers to test emergency and exit lights throughout the workplace. Standby Security Services Pty Ltd can assist in ensuring your emergency and exit lights are working and so ensure that your employees and visitors are able to exit a dangerous situation as safely as possible.
Inspection and Testing
A regular program of testing and tagging comprises:
- A visual check to ensure no visually identifiable problems
- A series of electrical tests to ensure the safety of the item
- Tagging of the equipment to indicate to users that the item has been identified as safe in accordance with AS/NZS 3760:2003 and when the item is due to be tested again
- Provision of a Detailed Asset Register and Log Book.
Light Globe Supply and Replacement
Standby Security Services Pty Ltd can implement a programmed globe replacement regime or simply assist you in minimising your impact on the environment by replacing incandescent globes with the energy efficient globes. These energy efficient globes may also save you in energy costs.
Microwave Radiation Leakage & Power Output
Standby Security Services Pty Ltd can check your microwave ovens for both radiation leakage and power output efficiently. Both test are particularly important in the retail food industry.
Safety Switch (RCD)
Safety switches or RCD’S (Residual Current Devices) are designed to save lives. It is however imperative that they are checked on a regular basis to ensure they are in proper working order as prescribed in AS/NZS 3760:2003.
